However the more popular and more established you become the more likely you are to start hitting figures of $30,000 to $50,000 per year. So the industry can be a very lucrative one but you have to be prepared to take some knock backs and be very determined to reach this level of modelling to earn this kind of wage!

As a model it’s basically your job to be flawless. This means you come to set groomed, prepared and in the mood to work no matter what. With our busy schedules it’s easy to fall into the habit of rushing out of the house in a flash, grabbing whatever clean-ish, nude-ish underwear you can find and hoping that no one asks for any extras, but isn’t it always better to come over-organized than under? The Importance of a Modeling Resume (This post is for both agency represented models and freelance models but is mainly applicable to freelancers.) In any model's career, the portfolio is going to play a major role. However, many professional models also have actual resumes they use to submit to gigs. Why would clients care about looking at a resume when they could easily just review a model's portfolio? For one thing, a resume is oftentimes a much more direct way for a client to see exactly what type of work a model has done. Browsing through a physical portfolio book or looking at an online portfolio is convenient but sometimes clients want to know the name of the photographer, project, client or assignment the model has done work for. Freelance models have a tough job. You act as your own modeling agent, find your own work and do your own payroll. There are definite advantages as well as disadvantages to being freelance but for those models who are actively doing it or if you’ve been toying with the idea of freelance, the following tips will point you in the right direction: 1.  Know Yourself. The cool thing about being freelance is that you are free to pursue as many types of modeling as you’d like. There are many clients out there who don’t mind hiring a fashion model who is shorter or a commercial/print model who is taller, etc. Depending on what direction you plan on going in, have the appropriate photos, portfolios, comp cards and business cards (optional).
